Your Oklahoma adventures can be as varied as the eleven ecosystems within the state. You will find sand dunes, mountains, beautiful lakes and unspoiled wilderness.

If you enjoy the healing elements in water you should most certainly visit Chickasaw National Recreation Area. The Bromide Spring has been valued for its medicinal properties for over a hundred years. You can take a sip and find out if there is any qualities in the water that will make you healthier. This area of Oklahoma used to be Platt National Park. It was changed to Chickasaw National Recreation area. The original size was just nine hundred acres and people were loving it to death.

Chickasaw National Recreation area is where mountains meet the western prairie. Hiking trails in the area you will enjoy the coolness of the eastern forest and have mind boggling views of the prairie. Hike along the streams and view the wildflowers and wild life, recharge yourself with sips of the medicinal springs, watch the sunset on Veterans Lake. You will feel recharged and your senses will thank you.

Adventure by car on the Mountain Getaway Scenic Drive and treat yourself to views of 200 year old white oak trees. Taking you along the edge of the Winding Stair Wilderness Area. Stop here and take a hike into the wilderness you will experience wild Oklahoma. The area will set you aback with its ancient trees, abundant wild life and you will be hiking in an area off the beaten path. If you hike more than a mile you will have the feeling that you are alone on the mountain.

Black Fork Mountain Wilderness is where the scenic drive will take you. This is a wilderness area that you should visit. Here is where all the old stands of trees remain intact. The plant life has remained the same for centuries and the wild life know it is safe here. Humans rarely visit here so be prepared to take care of your own needs. Hiking into the area and back out can be strenuous the trails are not maintained to park standards, if you enjoy a challenge and are in descent shape it is worth the effort.

Little Sahara Desert offers almost two thousand acres to ride an ATV. You can rent one in the area and spend the night if an adrenaline rush is what you seek you can find it at the Little Sahara Desert.

When you seek adventure travel in Oklahoma you won't find it along the freeway, hidden like a precious gem you will find it if you go off the beaten path.
