Adventure into Oregon and you will leave a piece of your heart. Mountains with heart stopping views. The rainforest of the coast with its pristine beauty and the rage of the surf. Rivers that tell you they have the power to change your course at any second. You can have one of the most memorable visits of your life in Oregon.

The Oregon coast shoreline is cold water but you can sit on the beach and relax or dig for clams and your day will not feel wasted. Travel along highway one from Brookings to Astoria and you will begin to think of trees as weeds. The smell of the salt air, imposing evergreens, ferns and you will know that you are in Oregon.

When you travel along the coast and listen you can hear the sounds of the wild life. Hiking into the forest can be merciless while taking a hike down the beach can be relaxing and invigorating at the same time. Be prepared for rain in this area its a rainforest. Walk along the beach at low tide visit the tide pools and you will see how abundant the oceans are here.

Stop along the way at Whiskey Run where the currents seem out of control, during the prohibition the Whiskey runners used to cross here to avoid the law and get there whiskey to shore. It makes you wonder what were they thinking?

Take a side trip into the Williamette Valley stop along the way at the many grottos along the way here you can hike into the forest a little ways and get a sense of the woods. Here is where you can taste the grapes of Oregon. There are over 200 wineries in the area and some of the best I have had the pleasure to enjoy. It is like a scavenger hunt that you can't lose. Many of the wineries are small and you will be talking to the winery owner.

The Columbia Gorge is so awe inspiring words cannot describe this place. The river has been dammed to the east but you can sense its power see the eroded mountain sides from the eons of its fight with the river. Stay in the gorge you can camp at Ainsworth State Park and be astounded by the waterfall there. See the wild life along the river and enjoy the comfort of flush toilets.

There are many adventures to discover in Oregon if you need to get out of the cool weather along the coast just travel inland twenty miles or so. Oregon will take you where you want to go you just have to get there.
