River Expeditions, Horseback Riding, Rafting, Desert Tours and More at Moab, Utah

Arches National Park and Canyonlands National Park are those pre-selected vacation sites, or you just won’t go there unless it’s by mistake. Whether you’re headed west on US Interstate 70 leaving Grand Junction, CO or you’re headed east out of Utah, there just isn’t a visible clue to the unique beauty of these two vacation spots. You look out the window at the great western desert, minus the cacti, and your reaction may well be, “How soon can we get out of this… this nothing?” <<more>>

Adventure Travel - Southern Utah

By Lanette Higham

Travel into Southern Utah and what you will find will both surprise and astound you. Here you will get scenic views where you can see forever, see the crushed dreams of many a pioneer, painted desert and forested mountains with plenty of wildlife.

Capitol Reef National Park is the most overlooked place to see Utah's painted desert it is big enough that you can hike off and get lost from the rest of the world. The painted desert here is absolutly beautiful. After a visit to the park you will want to go back to the tiny town of Teasdale and head south towards Boulder. You are now on the road of the Grand Escalante Staircase. The road is narrow but paved and not the hair raising adventure that it used to be.<<more>>

Central Utah Adventure Travel

By Lanette Higham

Venture into the center of Utah and you enter mining country. This area of Utah has a diverse ecosystem from the forest with lakes, wild flowers, flowing rivers to the painted desert. Central Utah is often overlooked as a vacation destination and this would be a mistake.

Take Spanish Fork Canyon to Price and you have made it to central Utah. Price is the largest town in the area so if you need supplies stock up here. Nine Mile Canyon has been recently purchased by the State. It is an archeological treasure trove. There is painted Indian art rocks and the land was held in private ownership until about two years ago.<<more>>

Adventure Travel Utah

By Lanette Higham

Most people have heard of Utah's beauty. They have also heard the rumors about its backwardness. I live in Utah and admire the beauty of the state and disagree with most of its political views. The adventurer who travels to Utah will be amazed at the diversity of the landscape and its people. When I arrived here thirty years ago I found it a very different place than it is today. Now I have gotten that off my chest lets get down to the adventure.

I don't normally write more than one article per state. I know too much to not share with everyone the diversity of the landscape here. I am writing a series of three articles about the state. Utah is a state with extreme weather conditions that vary from season to season. For all you snow boarders and skiers yes, we have the greatest snow on earth. The best time to visit if you don't enjoy snow unless your visiting the south is from May through early October otherwise expect cold weather.<<more>>
